Playing with Wine

Downloading wine and running the game with wine typically works out of the box. There might be some noticeable bugs and a few performance hiccups though. Downloading wine is usually pretty simple, if it isn't already on your system simply use your package manager to download it. There is guides nearly for every system. You probably should use and download the 64 bit version of wine.

Starting the game should be as easy as typing the following in a terminal window after navigating to the correct directory:

wine TKo.exe

If you have stuttering or issues it could be a good idea to try playing with Proton.

Playing with Proton

Using Lutris

A good way to quickly use Proton to play Kemoverse Online is to use Lutris. Make sure the version you download is up to date and works properly. If it fails to launch any game or install anything it's probably broken. On Linux Mint I ran into an outdated version of Lutris that didn't work so I used the Flatpak version as it was more up to date.

After opening Lutris click the wine tab and hit the manage versions button to the right of the word wine. After clicking this you'll get a pop up of different versions of Proton/Wine you can download. Download the version you'd like to use. Close this window after you are done.

At the top left of Lutris hit the plus button and pick add locally installed game. Select the runner to be wine. In game options tab put the TKo.exe as the executable(It's the game you are trying to run after all). In runner options you should select the version of Proton you'd like to use. It's worth noting you can also use Wine here as well.

Hit the save button and you should be able to run the game from Lutris.

Using Steam

You can add non-steam games to your Steam games list with the add a game button at the bottom left. After adding a non steam game to Steam go to properties and enable compatibility tools in the compatibility tab. Pick the version of Proton you'd like to use and it should be good to go.

It will create a new wine prefix as it does for every Steam game ran through Proton. If you ever need to find where this wine prefix is ProtonTricks will help you find where that prefix is.

Notable Bugs

Wine/Proton

  • In game video streaming doesn't properly work. CEF won't install or rendering errors could occur. This is quite expected and common though in many games.
