The aim of the project is to motivate and bring together a variety of atmospheric styles to make an interesting and different (and perhaps experimental) book together for fun -- a safe-for-work project focusing on original content and experimental expression in the theme of ambient technology.

The name of the book series refer to the combination of "'''Kemo'''no" and "'''Tech'''nology" -- the overarching theme referring to interaction between furries and technology. Kemono actually refers to "eastern furry", but can be interpreted as "foreign" style, meaning furry styles that are different from the usual. Technology refers to any sort of man-made object that the furry characters have to interact with. As an example, it could be anything from simple items (computers, cars, etc) to themes (sci-fi, weapons, etc). This is just the general theme; for each book issue a more specific theme is determined.
